Lewandowski breaks Bundesliga all-time scoring record

Lewandowski has surpassed legendary Gerd Muller to become the player to score the most goals in a Bundesliga season. The Polish striker scored his 41st goal of the season in the match against Augsburg that ended a few minutes ago.

To break this unprecedented record, the 32-year-old striker has maintained a high level of performance throughout this season. Bayern welcomes Augsburg in the last round of the Bundesliga this season when it has definitely won the championship for the 9th time in a row, which means that the players can freely express themselves.

Lewandowski scored 41 goals in the Bundesliga this season

The only surprise is that it took so long for Lewandowski to get the historic goal. His important moment came in the 90th minute with a close-to-the-wall kick.

Lewandowski’s 41st goal in the Bundesliga was his 48th this season for Bayern. This goal helped the striker wearing the number 9 shirt surpass the record set by Bayern legend Gerd Muller in 1971-72.

Lewandowski has once again had a stellar season. Last season, he scored 55 goals, helping Bayern win a great treble in domestic and continental competitions.

This season, he quickly opened an account in the 8-0 defeat of Schalke on the opening day of the Bundesliga.

The Poland international then scored all four goals in a 4-3 win over Hertha Berlin on October 4 and scored a hat-trick against Eintracht Frankfurt later that month. He scored in nine consecutive Bundesliga matches between December 12 and January 30.

Lewandowski maintained high form for many seasons

With what he has done, Lewandowski deserves to be one of the greats of Bayern, his latest achievements only reinforce that.

It is not clear next season Lewandowski will continue to stick with the Bavarian Gray Lobster or not. If he continues to stay, he can completely break other records of the team.
